Alas, I slipped into the netherworld and unknowingly dragged this poor church with me. Never fear, for I have been resurrected and am back with a vengence!

So, what have we missed, says you?

Nothing short of everything, says I.

Danny Elfman fans will note that Hell will have frozen over before he works with Sam Raimi again (Spiderman 1-3). From what I'd been able to gather from interviews, any attempt Elfman made to deviate from the original score (hah; the test dubs, even!) were shot down by Raimi, who insisted on taking the themes note for note without and further development. Elfman and Raimi had a blowout, and as a result Spidey 3 was left in the hands of Christopher Young, with a few [unaltered] themes from Elfman.

Now, I admit that I am perhaps too much of an Elfman fan; for a while I didn't even want to see Spidey3 because of what happened, but when the opportunity arose to see it, I did.

I'm glad, really, because it gave me a clear view on how complex the movie business is. Young had the task to write up themes for the new villains, as well as incorporate Elfman's old themes in a way that would be unjarring and unobtrusive to the storyline. IMHO, I feel that he failed in that respect, as I found the new themes weak and uninspiring, and it was blatantly obvious what was Elfman's and what was Young's; it was like flipping radio stations between the two.

Now, I'm not saying Young is a bad composer; I was quite impressed by his work on The Core, so I know he has a high caliber, and I don't think it was just overshadowed by Elfman's awesomeness. I honestly feel that Young could have done better on this particular piece.

And tomorrow I will post about Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (saw it opening night!)

I'd like this to be my next tattoo.  It's the kanji character for dog, which is my Chinese zodiac sign.

Tonight on FoodNetwork

Paula Goes to Hollywood is on FoodNetwork tonight at 8:00 (9:00EST).  Paula Deen be on the set of Elizabethtown, the new Orlando Bloom movie.

Now, I know Orlando Bloom is not part of the "Holy Trinity," but I think he has the potential to be as great as Johnny Depp (and when he is, he,too, will have a b&w on my wall).  Perhaps he can be part of the clergy; and when he finally achieves true greatness -- let's face it, people, he still needs some development -- he can be canonized.  St. Orli, patron saint of fangirls.  Or something.  Just a thought.

Though Tim Burton is not currently directing anything, having Charlie and Corpse Bride finished and in the theatres, he's currently listed as producer for a mysterious film called '9'. I intend on having a running update on this film, since it is in it's beginnings and so is this community.

Anyway, I'm going to start a list of links on the info page, so if there's any place in particular you think I should add, let me know! Also let me know about interests; right now I've just got things pertaining to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but I'm sure we can expand on that :-)

Not especially profound, but at least it's on topic. Also, it's way too quiet in here.

Went to the campus poster sale yesterday and came across the most gorgeous b&w of Johnny Depp. I think it was taken from Chocolat, but I'm not sure. But it's mine now! I am so happy...^_^

A 'hello' from your friendly Priestess!

Hello hello, and here's the painfully needed first post. No one wants to be first, but alas, someone must start the ball rolling.

I've joked around about making a church around Burton/Depp/Elfman for a while, but tonight (in the midst of a beautifully painful migraine) I decided to erect my church online, in the form of this community! I hope it will be a place of gossip and discussion and fun times! And so this first post won't be completely useless, I give you personal review of Tim Burton's Corpse Bride
